US 550 Wildlife Crossings (CDOT Region 6)

Initiate the development of wildlife crossings on US550 near Durango, Colorado in compliance to NEPA mitigation requirements.  Coordinated with highway design engineers to identify locations and designs for small and large mammal crossings.


Hazardous Waste Management Projects

Provided hazardous waste investigation and remediation consulting for the Department of Energy (Rocky Flats), Shell Chemical Company (Rocky Mountain Arsenal), United State Marine Corps (Yuma Air Training Station and Twentynine Palms). These investigations were related to CERCLA and RCRA environmental regulations.


Industrial Environmental Management Projects

Managed environmental programs for the Pabst Brewing Company (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) and the Hewlett Packard Company (Loveland, Colorado/Palo Alto California).  Responsible for stormwater management, industrial waste discharges, hazardous waste identification and minimization and regulatory reporting.


Road De-icing Analysis, CDOT Region 1

Aurora, Colorado

Evaluated heavy metal and nutrient concentrations in magnesium chloride used for highway de-icing/anti-icing for CDOT Region 1. Created a database to monitor vendor compliance to material specifications. Assessed technical reports on the environmental effects of magnesium chloride. Provided EPA and state environmental officials presentations about the theory, use, and aquatic impact of using de-icing chemicals for wintertime highway maintenance. Selected as a guest speaker at the Northern Pacific States Ice and Snow Conference to discuss “Environmental Impacts Due to High-Altitude Highway Maintenance Activities.”


Alamosa Riverkeeper

La Jara, Colorado

Water quality, watershed management, and CERCLA RI/FS consulting. Supported local citizens who were being impacted by released mine tailing from the Summitville Mine. Provided technical support during EPA and CDPHE remediation meetings. Developed a document funded by EPA that summarized watershed conditions to support  watershed remediation actions.


Los Alamos National Laboratory

Los Alamos, New Mexico

Evaluated the impact of proposed water quality regulations by the State of New Mexico on Laboratory water quality management operations concerning stormwater discharges, nonpoint source pollution. Created approaches and best management practices to address stormwater discharges.


Water Science and Engineering

Boulder, Colorado

Surface water computer modeling, natural resource damage litigation support on the Clark Fork River (Montana), and RI/FS consulting on North Fork of Clear Creek. Evaluated technical documents related to mine tailing releases and storage. Provided technical evaluations to support litigation.


Cherry Creek Watershed Impact Assessment

Greenwood Village, Colorado

Provided expert testimony to the State of Colorado Water Quality Control Commission concerning fisheries, recreation, drinking water, and agricultural-use impacts from hyper-eutrophication conditions at Cherry Creek Reservoir. Evaluated watershed impacts from phosphorus loading from point and nonpoint sources. The project was successful in overturning a proposal to allow increased phosphorus loading into the reservoir and resulted in new water quality regulations for the watershed.
